Welcome to experience Finland’s largest gun and the stunning archipelago nature on historic Kuivasaari in August
This popular and unique nature excursion takes you to a closed military island from Helsinki Market Square aboard Royal Line’s m/s Katarina. These themed cruises are available in limited numbers on only three summer weekends, in August. Salmon and vegetable soup are served on board.
In August, the main attraction is the massive Obukhov gun turret with its 12-inch barrel, which is still fully operational in terms of its mechanics.

The price includes a cruise ticket, salmon soup (L, G) or vegetable soup (V, G) on the ship, as well as a guided tour of the island and access to the museum cannon (part of the ticket revenue is used for the cannon's renovation and maintenance).

- Return from Kuivasaari at 1:30 PM, ends at the Market Square at 2:30 PM.

- Return from Kuivasaari at 4:00 PM, ends at Market Square at 5:00 PM.
The boat trip lasts about 1 hour. The total duration of the day trip is about 4.5 hours. You will spend about 2.5 hours on the island.

Entry to the tour requires Finnish citizenship, so a passport or ID card is required. Identity will be checked upon arrival on the island. The last day, Sun 30.08.2026, is also open to foreign visitors.

It is a good idea to dress for the weather on the island and bring good walking shoes.

Filming on the island is permitted.
- On the island, there is also a soldiers' canteen where you can enjoy coffee and doughnuts and do some shopping.
- Please note that the purchase of a special cruise is binding, and payments are non-refundable in case of cancellation. However, the reservation can be rescheduled to another cruise date, subject to availability.
