Kuivasaari Day Trip

Welcome to experience Finland's largest cannon on historic Kuivasaari

A unique nature tour to a closed military island from Helsinki's Kauppatori aboard Royal Line's m/s Katarina. Theme tours are available on a limited basis only on three summer weekends in July and August. Salmon soup is served on board.

The main destination of the guided tour is the huge Obuhov cannon tower with 12-inch tubes, which is technically fully operational. On the tour, you can get to know the tunnels and corridors of the 5-story cannon, where 100 gunners operate the cannon. The cannon projectile weighs almost 500 kg and flies 40 km away. There are also other museum cannons from different decades on the island.

The nature and species of the closed island have remained rich with birds and butterflies. There are buildings from the time of the Tsar on the island and the open military home naturally tastes like donut coffee.
